StayCay At The Ludlow- LES

Hello Darling,

Happy Thursday, we are SO close to the weekend. Can I get an amen? I am SO excited to give you more of an inside look at our stay The Ludlow Hotel. We had such a beautiful time celebrating Valentine’s Day and would definitely return. Mr. Darling LOVED it! From the beautiful room views to the unbelievable staff, we were pleasantly surprised with the accommodations and vibes of The Ludlow. We were greeted at the door immediately, with such a warm and inviting welcome. If y’all watched my stories that morning, then you know this was much needed.

LES

As soon as we arrived we found parking directly across the street from the hotel. It is a 24 hour parking garage and we paid $55 for 24 hours; which is typical NYC pricing. Immediately upon approaching the hotel, Mr. Darling said , ” OMG KATZ deli is across and street….wait and BLACKTAP NYC.”  Taylor was one happy happy man. We LOVE the shakes at Black tap. We actually were planning on going to Serafina for dinner, but Mr. Darling wanted Katz Deli. We cancelled dinner and had a little picnic by the floor-to ceiling window in our room. We took in the beautiful view from our high 14th floor room and had a yummy feast. The surrounding area had SO many restaurants to choose from and the perfect instagram-worthy photo ops. We found so many cute boutiques and fun picture spots for the gram. This wall was one block up from the hotel. Mr. Darling spotted it the next morning, after running out to grab morning coffee. It is one of my FAVE Yourdarlingstyle shots yet! Shout out to Taylor for finding this location! We were so happy and content with the location and surrounding area of The Ludlow.

The perfect wall for the GRAM! This was just steps outside of The Ludlow!

Can we talk about how happy he is? LOL Clearly in all his glory with all of this meat…ha ha. The next morning he asked if he could go back for a tongue sandwich. We would take a small romantic casual dinner over a fancy, long sit-down anyway. Our conversations and peaceful night was all we could have asked for that night. Also, the view, made it ALL worth it.

Our Room

When we first arrived to our room on the 12th floor, we noticed a weird and strong cologne scent. I have very bad allergies and sensitivities to scents, so I immediately called the front desk. Within seconds, staff knocked on our door with new keys and agreed with us that there was a strong odor. We were then brought up to the 14th floor with an even higher view. No odor and clean as can be! Our first impression of the room was how small it was. I have stayed at numerous hotels in New York and this was TINY for the price and two people. If you are traveling alone; then this room is perfect. I suggest staying in the KING sized room and not the queen studio for two people. We were cozy and comfortable and laughed it off, but it was a tight space for Mr. Darling and I. Our favorite part of the room, was the gorgeous marble bathroom. This bathroom was major #bloggergoals . Honestly, Tay was saying I should have brought more things to shoot in that bathroom because the lighting and aesthetic was THAT good. The bathtub had antique hardware and a view of the city skyline. It was romantic, relaxing and everything we had wanted. Mr. Darling asked if he could sleep in the tub LOL!

Accommodations

Our favorite thing about the hotel- was the aesthetic and vibe. The lounge area is surrounded by young people in their 20s socializing and having a drink by the bar. The nightlife was awesome. They had a fire going and it was so cozy and chill. We also loved that we had access to the rooftop. It was such an awesome view and we got some wonderful photos! Another cool thing, was that the rooftop had a side door to get into the gym. They also have a restaurant with French-chic vibes with a dash of American, called Dirty French. This hotel has everything you could possibly ask for in NYC. They even brought me up hypoallergenic sheets for the bed.

This is the entrance to the hotel restaurant, “DIRTY FRENCH.”

Kennebunkport Travel Guide

Hello Darlings,

As promised, here is the ultimate guide to Kennebunkport (the place to be all year.) Taylor and I truly had the most beautiful time there in the most quaint, darling and unique town to visit. This little town is filled with antique charm and lovely inns ( our favorite is the Grand Hotel!) We are so excited to share some of our favorite spots and things to do while visiting KPT. This is one of our most memorable trips. We spent about four days there and we were able to get in all of the attractions, shopping and dining we wanted to do. We enjoyed our evening walks the most, alongside the dock on our night walks back to The Grand Hotel; eating our delicious ice cream.

WHERE TO STAY:

We stayed at the charming Grand Hotel located on Chase Hill road, just steps into the beautiful village. You will find all of the popular restaurants, shopping and the BEST LOBSTER ROLL just steps outside of the hotel. I think the Grand Hotel was in one of the best locations in the town because almost everything was steps from the hotel. The Grand offers so many lovely amenities such as, complimentary bikes to ride in town and to the beach. This was so convenient, being that the parking was limited near Gooch’s Beach. They offer light bites in the morning, which was right up Taylor’s alley. He LOVED heading to the lobby every morning for a small bite to eat. This is great because it gave me enough time to get ready before we headed to Breakfast.

We stayed in the Grand King suite which was decorated in rich and warm gold tones with saffron accents. It was clean, climate controlled and comfortable. Taylor’s favorite part, was the heated floors in the bathroom. It also included a huge stand up shower. We enjoyed having breakfast every morning, on our mini private deck which overlooked the lower village and marina of Kennebunkport. We were so in love with the Grand’s location in the heart of the their “downtown area.” We conveniently could walk to everything we needed to. The guest services were absolutely spectacular. They went above and beyond to make sure that we were satisfied and enjoying our stay. They recommended restaurants for dinner and things to do. One of our favorite restaurants that the concierge recommended was, The Boathouse.

The grand also offers complimentary kayak, canoe, and paddle board rentals from the Kennebunkport Marina. I have never been on a Canoe/kayak before and Taylor and I rented a double seat kayak from the marina. It was one of our favorite moments from the trip. We thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful river and sightseeing a few miles down. We were so appreciative that the hotel offered free rentals.

Other amenities include, free champagne upon arrival, beach parking permits, complimentary shuttle service to other sister hotels and restaurants, beach cruiser bikes, complimentary beach chairs and towels, a pantry stocked with complete snacks, games, magazines & more, infused water/ coffee available all day, curated art through out the hotel, and complimentary parking. Besides the unique charm of the hotel; there were a lot of amenities included, which made our stay worthwhile. I cannot recommend the Grand enough. We plan on returning next summer and look forward to another beautiful stay. Be sure to scroll through some more photos of the hotel down below! I mean, how charming is it?

Obsessing over the charming and elegant lobby!

(We of course needed a mini photoshoot on our own Deck overlooking the town!)

We shot these photos on the deck of our private balcony! it was our favorite photo spot. We are so grateful for the memories and our stay with The Grand. This is our number 1 hotel when visiting Maine and we look forward to returning!

    DINING:

Where do I even begin with restaurants? There are so many options. We took a few steps out of our front door and we were provided with many options to dine at.

Breakfast :

We loved grabbing egg omelettes and bacon from H.B. Provisions which was across the street from The Grand Hotel. We would grab breakfast to go and bring it back to our porch and eat together. We recommend getting the lemon blueberry whoopee pies for dessert. I think Taylor had one for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We attempted to grab breakfast from All Day Breakfast on the way home, but there was about an hour long wait.

Lunch:

We occasionally would skip lunch to save room for dinner, but I loved grabbing my favorite: turkey lettuce wraps from Old Salt’s Pantry. This is perfect, if you want to grab sandwiches to bring to the beach. Federal Jack’s, is a great American restaurant to sit down and enjoy a nice lunch over-looking the marina. I had the steak and Taylor had the calamari and it was wonderful! If you are wanting to grab something quick, then head to the Clam Shack for fresh lobster and more.

Dinner:

We ate at the Boathouse and absolutely loved the atmosphere and vibe of this restaurant. The Boathouse is also  a sister hotel to The Grand! The portions were great and their waitstaff was lovely. Boathouse is extremely accommodating with food allergies. Being that I have a gluten allergy, they put my French fries in a separate fryer. Taylor had a tuna poke bowl and raved over it for the next few days. We also made a reservation for the Kennebunkport Inn, at the Burleigh restaurant. Our dinner was tasty and loved the atmosphere of it’s location. We only had one complaint and that was the 100 mosquitos that ate us alive during dinner. The waiter was nice enough to bring us a bottle of bug-spray! They even brought us complimentary desert wine for our anniversary.

Dessert:

Taylor is 100% recommending all of the dessert places to eat at, considering he tried almost all of them. His favorite was the Candyman, because of their amazing chocolate covered twinkies. For ice cream, Taylor loved Maxims Desserts, which was located inside of a food truck. Taylor got a strawberry rhubarb pie ice cream cone from Maxim’s and raved over it. If you have a peanut/nut allergy, Ben & Jerry’s offers a peanut/nut free ice cream option. It was delicious and I felt safe eating it. If you are a donut lover like myself, you must go to Satellite Donuts for the most amazing flavors and mini donuts.

Here’s a sneak peak of the Candyman!

Things To Do:

  1. You must visit the Kennebunkport Beaches. The water is absolutely beautiful and the surrounding homes are so elegant and charming to see. We were lucky enough to have a beach parking pass, since we were staying at The Grand.  We visited Gooch’s Beach, which was a mile from our hotel room.
  2. You can rent Kayaks, Canoes and Paddle Boards from the Kennebunkport Marina. If you stay at The Grand Hotel, you will recieve complimentary rentals all day everyday.
  3. Shopping, shopping and more shopping. Luckily, there were enough dessert spots to continue feeding Taylor while I shopped! Just when you think, you’ve hit the end of the town there are more shops. Taylor and I enjoyed visiting the unique, vintage shops. Each store had it’s own unique charm and feel to it. We loved visiting the thrift stores.
  4. Tours- The town offered numerous types of tours. You could take the adorable Trolley for $16 per person and ride through the town. You can also do a whale watching boat tour/lobster tour. All of the boat tours can be purchased, at the Marina next to Maxim’s Desserts! We didn’t have the chance to do a boat tour, but everyone raved over the whale-watching tour. If you wanted to skip the tour, you could always head to the bridge and take a walk alongside the Marina.
  5. Scooter Rental– This was the highlight of our trip. We enjoyed every second riding along the ocean’s coast. This was one of the coolest things I’ve experienced. I LOVED every second of it. It was $55.00 for three hours.
  6. Horse & Carriage Ride- I’m not entirely sure how much this would have been, but it looked so lovely.
  7. If you have a few minutes of your day, you should ride the scooter to Saint Anne’s Cathedral church. The architecture was absolutely exquisite.

We truly had the time of our lives and made beautiful memories that we shall cherish forever. Returning to Kennebunkport is definitely on our agenda. KPT is charming, elegant with a pinch of salty air. See you again soon Kennebunkport!

Montauk: Travel Guide

    Montauk Staycation 2018

A Complete Travel Guide

Hello Darling,

I received so many direct messages this weekend asking me all about the details of my trip to Montauk with Taylor. We had such a lovely get-away “stay-cation”, celebrating his birthday. We literally did not want to go home. If you are from the eastern end of Long Island, NYC, NJ or the surrounding eastern region; you must take a little trip to Montauk. From the sandy beaches, delicious seafood, homemade ice cream, trendy shopping and fudge/candy shops- you will be in heaven. All of the details and things you need to know, will be in this guide. I hope this is helpful and if you have any questions, feel free to ask me! What a wonderful way to kick-off the summer.

Dining:

SCARPETTA

For Taylor’s Birthday dinner, I made a reservation at Scarpetta restaurant in Gurney’s. The atmosphere was charming, elegant and had a romantic feel. We ate dinner overlooking the sandy beach and clear-blue ocean. If you are looking for a romantic anniversary, and or celebration spot, then this is the place to eat at. If you are starving, I don’t suggest eating there to fulfill your appetite. Taylor and I left hungry and ready to order a pizza to bring back. The portions are very small, but very tasty and filled with flavor. The menu consists of primarily Italian dishes. They make fresh homemade pasta and their speciality is the “lobster ravioli.” This is a romantic and trendy spot and will give you all the Montauk, beach vibes. After dinner, we took a walk along the trails to the beach and watched the sunset. On our way out, we visited the little cafe by the front entrance, where they served delicious gelatto. Tay got a huge sprinkled sugar cookie!

(Our view from the dinner table)

LUNCH SPOT

Tacombi

If you are looking to grab a quick bite to eat in town, Tacombi is the BEST spot in town. If you are a fan of Mexican food and tacos- you must stop here for some delicious margaritas and chips & guac. The aesthetic is adorable and totally gives you the summer vibes, while dining. I totally recommend this restaurant for kids and families. It has a fun atmosphere and is perfect for a quick bite.

Other Spots I recommend for food:

  1. Harvest On Fort Pond- Another romantic spot/ evening dinner. They open at five and start taking reservations at 3 pm.
  2. The Lobster Roll- For the seafood lover
  3. Muse- a great trendy spot for young adults (great night life)
  4. The Surf Lodge (Beach party vibes)
  5. For breakfast- Montauk Bake Shoppe (The donuts are to DIE for and they make awesome egg sandwiches.)
  6. For Dessert- John’s Drive in ice cream (homemade and DELICIOUS!)

Where To Stay?

Taylor and I stayed in an Oceanfront beach rental at the Beachcomber. To be honest, most of the spots in Montauk are not luxurious and trendy, but I was actually pleased with our stay here. The room was extremely spacious, clean and overlooked the ocean. We didn’t need much. We just wanted a clean room, kitchen and ocean view. There were many young families in the rentals; which was nice to see and understandable considering these units had kitchens (Not as much partying.) We felt very comfortable, safe, relaxed and would definitely return. This was a last minute birthday surprise trip, and everything else was booked up. I wanted to book Gurney’s, but sadly it was sold out. I used www.booking.com for the best available price and everything worked out perfectly!

(Our view from the balcony of our room)

Where we would stay next time:

Gurney’s Resort –

If Gurney’s wasn’t so booked up, I definitely would have booked this for the weekend. The aesthetic, the accommodations and the resort grounds are just beautiful. They have three different restaurants on site, valet parking, cabanas for rent, hammocks for a restful nap on the beach and a beautiful spa for relaxation. They recently renovated the premises and I am obsessed with how it turned out. We would love to visit in the off-season, when it isn’t as crowded. It is a blissful, romantic and trendy place for young couples celebrating an engagement, milestone and or a weekend getaway.

Ruschmeyer’s –

Last year, I visited Ruschmeyer’s and loved the camp-style vibes. There trendy boho chic styled rooms are perfect for the beach lover. They have a ton of events and a very active night life.  They have fun events, such as movies under the STARS and daytime events and games. I look forward to checking out Ruschmeyer’s my next visit.

Montauk Manor-

The Montauk Manor is a historic, charming castle-like hotel. The outdoor facilities resemble buildings in England and the UK. There is a beautiful garden, that overlooks the ocean. I would recommend this resort for families, but the rooms seemed older and in need of renovation.

Things to Do & Places to See:

1. Obviously you MUST visit the beach when staying in Montauk.

The public beach is Kirk Park Beach. There are public restrooms and the town is within walking distance, as well as the supermarket. The Beachcomber (where we stayed) did have a private beach, but we wanted a restroom that we could use. There are lifeguards on duty at the public beach and we found that it was not as crowded there too.

We had an overall beautiful day.

2. The Montauk lighthouse

You must, must, must climb to the top of the lighthouse. The view is so cool and is a great thing to do with your family. After viewing the lighthouse, taking photos; we climbed the eroded rocks all the way to the edge of the water (Another great photo opportunity).

3. Main Street

You guys, all of the shops along Main Street are charming and quaint. Each one carries unique clothing, accessories, antiques, jewelry, home decor and more. One of my favorite little shops is the Strawberry Fields florist. The outside is unique, rustic and adorned in flowers. I adore this town and I always leave with a few souvenirs.

Soho Grand Extravaganza

So, many of you know from my Insta-Stories that I surprised Tyler with a surprise  birthday staycation weekend in Soho. I wanted to first off thank everyone for all of the birthday wishes! Tyler sends his love to you all. We stayed for the weekend at, the Soho Grand Hotel. Tyler is very into the trendy and rustic locations, so I knew he would adore it. It exceeded our expectations, more than we ever could have imagined. You know the staycation was successful when you both were tearing up on the last day. Clearly we didn’t want it to end. From the kind and helpful guest service staff to the waitstaff at the restaurant; we were delighted everywhere we went. As soon as we arrived, we were your typical NYC tourists. We wanted the entire New York experience, granted we’ve visited a dozen times.

Continue reading below to see how we celebrated Tyler’s Bday weekend. I could go on for days discussing every little thing we did. We will remember this staycation forever and hold the memories dear to our hearts. Also at the very bottom, you will see the pictures from our rustic shoot. We had a blast and now have beautiful photos to look back on.
